Ⅰ Title & Character

  China Research Center for Foreign Direct Investment (CRCFDI), UIBE is a non-profit scientific research institution on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), comprised of volunteers from academia, enterprises, government departments, trade associations and the media sector.

Ⅱ Purposes

   Been comprised of experts on FDI research and teaching, relevant government officials, delegates from trade associations and enterprises, CRCFDI mainly focuses on research about the beginning and development of FDI, theory, policy and practice of FDI, FDI and TNCs, FDI and Enterprise Group, FDI and acquisitions and corporate restructuring, the relationship between FDI and FPI, the impact of FDI on international economics and trade, strategies on China's utilization of foreign investment and overseas investment, etc. CRCFDI provides direct teaching services and promotes the development of SITE and UIBE, supplies consultation for government, gives guidance and training for enterprises. The development objective of CRCFDI is to become a domestic scientific and teaching base on FDI, a think tank for enterprises to make investment decisions, and a consulting agency for government policy making on related subject.

Ⅲ Main Tasks

   1. Research: research on current situation and trend of international direct investment development, effect of international direct investment, the function and latest development of transnational corporations, strategy on China's utilization of foreign investment, WTO’s agreements on international investment, comparison on competitiveness of Chinese and foreign enterprises, investment promotion theory , strategy of Chinese enterprises overseas investment; Besides, it also accepts FDI research commissions from related institutions at home and abroad;

   2. Courses: Speeches on FDI for postgraduate of School of International Trade and Economics;

   3. Policy Consultation: active participation in the decision-making process of government departments, assistance in research and settlement of difficult issues on FDI, providing information and advice as well as advisory report, offering theoretical basis for the government in formulating policies and regulations on utilization of foreign investment and overseas investment;

  4. Business and industry development planning: accepting commissions from domestic and foreign enterprises and trade associations, providing planning and consultation on utilization of foreign investment, acquisitions and corporate restructuring, foreign direct investment and corporate tax planning issues;

  5. Forums: irregularly holding forums on FDI and organizing discussion among experts from academia, business, media and political fields in order to promote communication, deepen understanding and provide advices;

6. Edit and Publication: edit and publication of books and reports on FDI by various channels and measures, publishing thesis and classic cases on FDI.

Ⅳ Organizations

   1. CRCFDI establishes Governing Council and position of senior adviser; The Governing Council is held in every four years, duties of which include: enact, amend and pass the regulation of the center; hear and discuss the work report of the Governing Council; elect director and executive director;

  2. CRCFDI invites experts majored in FDI in and outside the school to be senior advisers of CRCFDI;

  3. According to assignment needs of CRCFDI, several departments are founded and relative staffs are appointed;

  4. The permanent office of CRCFDI is Secretariat, responsible for office routines, organization and coordination.

Ⅴ Funding Sources and Expenditure

  CRCFDI is self-funded. Main funding sources include:

  1. Research funding from domestic and overseas subjects given by related government and institutions, enterprises and trade associations;

  2. Income on consultancy and planning;

  3. Other enterprises and social assistance and donations.

  Expenses mainly include:

  1. Expenditure on research and other activities;

  2. Office facilities, supplies and other necessary expenditures.

  3. Expenditures on holding forums and publication.
The Center will improve its financial system, strictly enforce relevant financial provisions and accept examination and supervision from the Governing Council of the center and Department in charge.
