● Resume

  Professor of School of International Trade and Economics, Ph.D. of Economics, director of Ph.D. programs, director of China Research Center for Foreign Direct Investment, UIBE, winner of a special subsidy from State Council.

  Education Background: Graduated from Renmin University of China in 1982, Bachelor of Economics; Graduated from Renmin University of China in 1987, Master of Economics; Graduated from UIBE, Ph.D. of Economics in 2003. Professor Lu began to guide postgraduate majored in international finance from the year of 1995, and then turned to become the tutor of postgraduates who major in international trade. By 2007, nearly 60 doctors and postgraduate he guided have graduated. In 1998 and 2002, Professor Lu attended in advanced studies in University of Victoria in Canada and Monash University in Australia respectively as a visiting scholar, focusing on international investment and multinationals; In addition, he has visited the United States, Japan, South Korea, Russia, France, Germany, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Macao Special Administrative Region and other countries and regions to give lectures, study or participate in international academic conferences. He once worked in China Petrochemical Corporation and the Ministry of Education. He was also the winner of outstanding youthful teachers of universities in Beijing, candidate of “100 Project” in cross-century theory talents training in Beijing and youth subject leaders in universities of Beijing.

● Teaching

  At present, courses for postgraduate are as follows: Foreign direct investment (for postgraduate majored in FDI and multinational operations of international trade), Introductory Commerce Promotion (firstly open this course and set up the direction for postgraduate in China), Introductory Real Estate Investment and Management (for postgraduate, co-teaching with Professor Du Qihua); courses for undergraduate students include: International Investment and International Economic Cooperation. Professor Lu has also taught International Economics, Multinationals, Investment promotion, as well as foreign investment utilization and overseas investment, etc.

● Academic Research

  The major research aspects include: international direct investment (FDI), multinationals, China's utilization of foreign capital and overseas investment, WTO and international investment, investment promotion theory, corporate restructuring and mergers and acquisitions, corporate competitiveness theory.

  Main research achievements include: The number of books officially published, which are self-compiled, chief-compiled, jointly-compiled or translated by Professor Lu, has reached more than 40, such as International Economic and Technological Cooperation, Policy and Practice of Chinese Enterprises’ Overseas Investment, International Economic Cooperation ( teaching material in "11th Five-Year" plan of the Ministry of Education, prime teaching material of higher education in Beijing), International Economic Cooperation Principle (the Third Outstanding Achievements of Young and Middle-aged Award in Philosophy and Social Science of Universities in Beijing in 1994), Operation and Management of Overseas Enterprises, International Economic and Trade Encyclopedia, Encyclopedia on Transnational Operations of Chinese Enterprises, New Engine of Economic Growth: FDI Modes, Criterion and Techniques, International Investment Theory and Practice, Cases of International Investment and Multinational Corporations, WTO and China's Utilization of Foreign Capital and Overseas Investment (winner of the 13th of the "China Book Award" in 2002), Handbook of WTO for National Public Servant ( winner of the First prize of best seller of the Fifth National University Publishing House, circulation of more than 500,000), Multinational Corporations, International Service Trade and Transnational Corporations, FDI Theory and Policy, New Theory on International Investment Treaties and Agreements, Strategies and Practice of Government and Enterprises on Investment Attraction, World Investment Report in 1992, Opportunities and Challenges: Macao's Economic Development Model Study, Intellectual Property and International Competition: Industrial Technology Intellectual Property Strategy, ( winner of the 2nd prize of the 6th national foreign trade and economics research achievements), SMEs’ Overseas Investment Operation Practice, Training Material for Newly Appointed Public Servant, etc. In addition, Professor Lu has published more than 120 theses domestically and overseas, some of which have won provincial and ministerial outstanding scientific research achievement awards, such as An Zijie International Trade Research Excellent Theses Award, China International Trade Institute Excellent Theses Award, etc. In academic research, he brings forward a number of original theoretical viewpoints and policy suggestions.

● Social Activities

  Main social concurrent positions include: executive director and member of the Academic Committee of China International Economic Cooperation Association, executive director of Chinese Society of World Economy, expert in “the new round of WTO multilateral trade negotiations of trade and investment advisory group" of Ministry of Commerce, deputy director of International Investment Member Training and Certificate Committee of Experts, lecturer and expert in Investment Attraction of Ministry of Commerce Training Center, director and researcher of China WTO Academia Service Trade Research Center, executive director of China TBT Research Center, etc. At present, he is also advisor for some institutes and enterprises. He was interviewed by CCTV for several times, presided at several scientific research projects of government and enterprises (including projects of State Social Science Fund), participated in exam propositions for international commerce member, economist member and export member, participated in the evaluation in Humanities and Social Sciences research bases and projects of Ministry of Education as review expert, participated in the State Social Science Fund research project assessment as expert. In recent years, Professor Lu was invited by government departments and enterprises in more than 20 provinces and cities to give speech on multinationals investment in China, investment attraction and overseas investment strategy. In 1992, he went to Macao for a six-month investigation and research as the principal member of investigation and study group. In 2004, he went to Japan and South Korea to participate in negotiations as Chinese expert of Ministry of Commerce in “the China-Japan-South Korea investment mode joint research and negotiations delegation group”. In 2005, he went to Europe with delegation of Ministry of Science and Technology to study technology park construction, SME technology development, and science and technology enterprises’ overseas investment. In 2004 he was invited by the Tenth CPPCC Standing Committee to give the report entitled with “Accelerating the Development of Chinese Multinational Corporations, Optimize Going-out Tactic Body” for the Sixth conference. He once also served as Deputy Secretary-General of China Institute of International Trade Theory Committee and Deputy Secretary-General of Transnational Corporations Research Center.
