题目: Search, market transparency and e-commerce platform    

摘要: This paper builds a model to study the situation in which firms and consumers trade on a monopolistic e-commerce platform, and the platform can control the transparency in product quality of the marketplace. We show that an increase in the transparency in the vertical product quality leads to a decrease in the equilibrium prices and higher consumers’ welfare, while an increase in the transparency in the vertical product quality leads to an increase in the equilibrium prices and higher consumers’ welfare. If the platform charges a percentage commission from firms, it will optimally choose to make the information on the vertical product quality opaque, and the information on the horizontal product quality transparent.    

报告人简介:李三希,中国人民大学经济学院副教授,研究领域为产业组织理论和信息经济学。在Journal of Public Economics, Journal of Economic Theory, Management Science, 《世界经济》,《经济学季刊》等中英文杂志上发表论文二十余篇,主持国家自科项目面上项目和青年项目各一项。获2017年中国信息经济学会乌家培奖。
