INTERNATIONAL ECONOMICS AND FINANCE SOCIETY,

CHINA

The China Chapter of the INTERNATIONAL ECONOMICS AND FINANCE SOCIETY has been established as the regional chapter of International Economics and Finance Society in the Mainland, China (hereafter IEFS China) in 2008. It is initially founded, with support from the School of International Trade and Economics of The University of International Business and Economics, as an international organization of academic and professional economists focusing on international economics.

Objectives

The IEFS China adopts the bylaws of the IEFS with some appropriate modifications to suit the circumstances of mainland China and its economists. The general objective of the Society is to encourage research in international economics (international trade and finance) by

(1) promoting professional communication of researchers in these fields in the Mainland China and across the world to facilitate and enhance cooperation among economists in academia, government, and the industry; and

(2) to sponsor and participate conferences, workshops, seminars and publications, and to conduct other research-related activities.

Founding Members of the IEFS China

There are 28 founding members of IEFS China. The executive officers for the first annual conference of IEFS China (2008) will be elected in the near future by the founding members, when the detailed bylaws of IEFS China are available.

Recent Activities

The Society will hold the first International Conference of IEFS China to celebrate its birth, organized by School of International Trade and Economics of The University of International Business and Economics in the late May of 2009, in Beijing, China. More details will be available online soon.

The IEFS China will sponsor the other international conferences in the near future. In general, it will co-sponsor the weekly seminar with School of International Trade and Economics of The University of International Business and Economics and the UW-UIBE joint Research Centre of International Economics from 2008. The information about academic activities of all members and their affiliated units will be posted on the website of IEFS China continuously, in order to increase academic exchange among them and promote the study of international economics.
