Don Campbell, the president of Pacific Economic Cooperation Council visited our university

On May 13th, Don Campbell, the president of Pacific Economic Cooperation Council visited our university with the company of ambassador, Zou Mingrong, the Executive Vice President of China National Committee for Pacific Economic Cooperation. Prof. Don Campbell once served as the vice minister of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Canada, vice minister of Ministry of Foreign Trade, and ambassador to Japan and Korea. With abundant experience as a business diplomat, he once represented Canada in the North American Free Trade Area negotiations.
The first stop of Prof. Don Campbell and ambassador Zou’s visit is the history exhibition pavilion of our university. They spoke highly of the contribution made by UIBE during the period of China’s opening up. Following that, Prof. Don Campbell made a speech named Asia Pacific Trade Talks: Complementary or Crosscutting at meeting room 222 of administrative building and discussed with attendants. Hong Junjie, Dean of our school hosted the meeting.

Vice principal of our university Lin Guijun met with Prof. Campbell after his speech and had a spirited discussion regarding the prospect of Asia Pacific economic cooperation. Lin Guijun also presented the Progress of Asian Economic Integration Annual Report 2012 to prof. Don Campbell as a gift in which he shows a great interest. In return, as a representative from China National Committee for Pacific Economic Cooperation, Ambassador Zou Mingrong presented a set of proceedings compiled by the committee to vice principal Lin Guijun and Dean Hong Junjie. The two parties agree to deepen cooperation for future studies on Asian economic integration.
