SITE Students

SITE has an international body of students: about 70% of students are domestic students, and 30% are international students. Currently SITE has total 2447 domestic students, include 1733 undergraduate student, 673 MA students and 95 Ph.D. students. International students include 763 undergraduate student, 156 MA students and 34 Ph.D. students. UIBE accounts for about 2% of international students in degree program in China.

SITE’s academic program emphasizes the right balance of theory and practice to give our students the ability to compete and succeed. Aside from the regular academic program, SITE has developed several special programs. For example, SITE is one of the first institutions in China to have initiated academic programs in English for international students, including Undergraduate Programs in Economics, Master Programs in Applied Economics, International Business, and International Development, and Ph.D. Programs in Economics. SITE has established the several Honors Undergraduate Degree programs which offer the students research training and advance courses in mathematics, statistics and economics in addition to regular course work.

Job Placement

SITE boasts an excellent placement record in academic, government and the private sector. Graduates are positioned in leadership roles and contribute to policy and practice in China and around the world. Undergraduate and MA graduates are employed in governments, high-tech industry, trading firms, financial institutions, multinational enterprises, and many continue their graduate study abroad. Ph.D. graduates are employed in domestic universities and research institutions in governments and financial sector

Research

SITE is a research-oriented school in Economics, Finance and Management. SITE focuses on both academic contributions and applied analyses of the Chinese economy. In recent year, more than 40 papers have been published in international academic journal such as the Journal of Econometrics, Rand Journal of Economics, Review of International Economics, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Corporate Finance, Financial Management, Journal of Futures Markets, Regional Science and Urban Economics, Economic Development and Cultural Change，China Economic Review, World Development, Journal of Evolution Economics, Urban Studies, Regional Studies, Transportation Journal, Supply Chain Management, China and World Economy, Environment and Development Economics, International Journal of Production Research. Lots of research papers are published in top domestic journals such as China Social Science, Economic Research Journal, China Economic Quarterly, Management World, and World Economy. SITE faculty members also participate in a large number of domestic and international research projects.

SITE has several research centers: International Business Bridge, Chinese Society of International Trade, FDI Research Center, Leasing Research Center, Cheungkei Research Center for Luxury Goods and Services, Research Center for Energy Economics.

International Collaboration

Internationalization is the salient term for SITE. SITE has an international faculty body and an international student body, and has built up a world-wide collaborative network.

SITE has established a long-term partnership and research cooperation with a number of foreign universities, research institutions, and international organizations such the United Nations, and the US International Trade Committee, and the World Bank. SITE is the only member in China to have joined UNCAD’s Virtual Institute Network of Academic Institutions. SITE has established several collaborative research centers with partner universities, such as the joint International Economics Research Centers with Washington University, the joint Technology Management Research Center with Northumbria University, and the joint Service Trade Research Center with Adelaide University.

SITE has developed several joint degree programs with foreign universities, including the joint undergraduate and Master’s program with Northumbria University, the joint undergraduate program with Cardiff University, the joint undergraduate and Master’s program with ESCE in France. SITE is one of the first universities in China to have initiated academic exchanges with foreign academic institutions. Currently UIBE has short-term exchange programs with over 100 universities and institutes in more than 30 countries or regions around the world. Other forms of cooperation with foreign universities include: global classroom and joint lecture, joint supervisory of Ph.D. students, and the short-term visiting scholar exchange program
