讲座题目：Exports Diversification as New Determinant of Energy Diversification: The Role of Public-Private Partnership Investments in Energy for China

讲座摘要：This paper examines the relationship between exports diversification and energy diversification by incorporating public-private sector investments in energy, financial development, economic growth and exchange rate as additional determinants of energy diversification function in China. In doing so, the ARDL bounds testing approach is applied to examine cointegration relationship between the variables by incorporating single structural breaks in the series. Our empirical results show that exports diversification has positive effect on energy diversification. Public-private partnership investments in energy also lead energy diversification. Financial development declines energy diversification. Economic growth stimulates energy diversification. The relationship between exchange rate and energy diversification is positive. This empirical evidence presents new insights for policy makers to use export diversification and private-sector in energy as economic tool for energy diversification.

主讲人简介：Dr. Muhammad Shahbaz is a highly accomplished Professor of Economics at the Beijing Institute of Technology, China, and a Senior Department Fellow at the University of Cambridge, UK. He holds a PhD in Economics from the National College of Business Administration and Economics, Lahore, Pakistan.

Dr. Shahbaz’s research focuses on a range of important topics, including development economics, energy economics, environmental economics, and tourism economics. He is a prolific author, having published over 500 research papers in peer-reviewed international journals such as Energy Economics, Energy Policy, Journal of Banking & Finance, Economic Modeling, and Applied Economics. His accumulated impact factor is an impressive 2193.

Dr. Shahbaz is widely recognized as one of the World’s top authors in the Economics category, as compiled by IDEAS. He has also been named among the top 5 active researchers from developing countries by David McKenzie, Chief Economist at the World Bank. In 2019, Dr. Shahbaz was awarded Scientist of the Year by the Turkish Presidency, and he was also recognized as a distinguished scientist by Dozce University of Turkey in the same year.

Additionally, Dr. Shahbaz has been recognized as a highly cited author in the category of economics, business, and social sciences for both 2020 and 2021. According to the AD Scientific Index for economics and econometrics, he is ranked # 43 in the world ranking and #1 in China and Asia based on H-Index ranking in 2023. Overall, Dr. Shahbaz’s impressive accomplishments and contributions to the field of economics make him a highly respected and influential figure in his field.
