       讲座题目： Impact of WTO Accession on Aggregate Productivity Growth of the Vietnamese Manufacturing Sector

       讲座摘要： Vietnam joined the World Trade Organization （WTO） as an official member country in 2007, and domestic manufacturing firms were expected to increase the sector-level aggregate productivity through higher productivity of individual firms （firm-level productivity） and improved allocation of output to firms with higher productivity in the sector （output reallocation）. Using data on individual manufacturing firms in the Vietnamese Enterprise Survey over the period 2002-2015, we study how the WTO accession changed the aggregate productivity of the manufacturing sector in terms of the firm-level productivity and the output reallocation effects. We also conduct similar analysis for private-owned, state-owned, and foreign-owned firms to know their different reactions in the period of WTO participation.

       主讲人简介：Tadashi Sonoda is a professor at the Center for Digital Humanities and Social Sciences at Nagoya University. From 2020 to 2023, he served as the Dean of the Graduate School of Economics at Nagoya University. His research focuses on the behavior of self-employed farm households, applied econometrics, and productivity analysis. Professor Sonoda has published his articles in journals such as American Journal of Agricultural Economics, Journal of Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Economics, and Applied Financial Economics.
