讲座题目：The Epistemological Crisis of Generative AI: Hallucinations, Trust, and the Future of Research 

讲座摘要：This lecture focuses on the “hallucination” problem in generative AI. It first introduces common classifications of hallucinations, such as factual errors and logical inconsistencies. It then analyzes the main causes of hallucinations, namely that large language models are fundamentally statistical language models that pursue statistical plausibility rather than factual truth, making hallucinations an inherent flaw. Building on this, the lecture explores several issues that hallucinations pose for information systems research, including whether traditional trust theories remain valid, how users’ initial trust in AI can be established, and how risk management within the human–technology–environment interaction should be reoriented. Finally, corresponding research suggestions are proposed, calling on IS scholars to rethink the foundations of knowledge and trust in the AI era and to promote interdisciplinary theoretical and methodological innovation.

主讲人简介：

Xin （Robert） Luo is an Endowed Creative Enterprise Chair, an Endowed Dean's Professor of Research Excellence, and a Distinguished Professor of Management Information Systems at the Anderson School of Management of the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, USA. He received his Ph.D. in Management Information Systems from Mississippi State University, USA. His research has been published in leading IS/ business journals, including the Information Systems Research, MIS Quarterly, Journal of Operations Management, Production and Operations Management, Journal of Management Information Systems, Journal of the Association for Information Systems, European Journal of Information Systems, Information Systems Journal, Journal of Strategic Information Systems, Journal of Information Technology, Decision Sciences, Decision Support Systems, Information & Management, and IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management. He has served as an ad hoc Associate Editor for MIS Quarterly and an Associate Editor for the European Journal of Information Systems, and he currently serves as a Senior Editor for Journal of the Association for Information Systems, Decision Support System, Internet Research, and IM&DS. He also serves as an Associate Editor for Information & Management, Electronic Commerce Research, and the Journal of Electronic Commerce Research. He sits on the Editorial Review Board of Information Systems Research and serves as a Guest AE for special issues of Journal of Management Information Systems and Decision Support Systems. His research interests center around information assurance, innovative technologies for strategic decision-making, and global IT management. He is the Co-Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Accounting and Information Management.
